Camino de Invierno Stage 3
We leave the town of A Rúa b the old N-533 road. We continue along the old Roman road. The first village is Albaredos, now in the province of Lugo. We go downriver by a dirt track and soon reach the town of Montefurado, famous for its Roman Tunnel dug through the rock, one of the grandest Roman engineering works in the Iberian Peninsula. We cross the town of Montefurado, passing its Church of San Miguel,and reach O Ermidón. The views of the River Sil continue to be a constant beauty in these stretches, together with the fields of olive trees, fig trees and walnut trees. The following destinations are the villages of A Venda Vella and A Venda Nova, with the remains of houses which were an inn and the Capela das Farrapas, in reference to the “harapos” (rags) the walkers had to take off. This zone was the historical produces of oil, a resource which is in the process of being recuperated today. We then go down to the village of A Ponte Soldón.
