Camino de Invierno Stage 6

We leave Chantada from the Plaza de Santa Ana, we go up the Rúa Uxío Novoneyra and continue along the LU-P-180 road. Beautiful hórreos (traditional granaries), shrines and Calveries appear on the way to Centulle and San Xurxo de Asma, together with magnificent examples of oak and chestnut trees. We cross A Lucenza, then Vilaseco and Penasillás. In front of us rises the summit of Mount Faro. On going up to the mount (4.8 km of hard ascent from Penasillás ). We pass by Chao de Seixas. A detour to the left takes us through a via crucis by what is known as the “ Camiño da Virxe ”— to the famous hermitage of A Nosa Señora do Faro. We are now at an altitude of over 1,100 metres. The view from here is unique as it takes in the four provinces of Galicia. If we want to avoid going up to Monte Faro, on arriving at Penasillás, we have an alternative which passes through Mouricios and San Vicente. It is a shorter way and we avoid the snow in winter.
