Camino de Invierno Stage 2

We leave O Barco by the old road in the direction of A Pobra, between the National Highway 120 and the River Sil. We then continue towards Arcos. We have to cross the railway line by a flyover and enter Vilamartín de Valdeorras. Here we cross the old bridge of A Rodeleira, over a half-concealed stream. We continue by the pier of Vilamartín following the course of the river. This town, located in the central valley of the region of Valdeorras, has numerous caves excavated on its slopes among the houses. Many of the caves are the remains of Roman excavations for the extraction of gold and have been converted into wineries. At the beginning of August, Vilamartín de Valdeorras celebrates the Festa das Covas, with guided visits, music and food tasting.
