Camino Francés Stage 2

The longer of the two ways down to Sarria, turning south along the River Sarria to pass the Monastery of Samos — a working Benedictine house founded in the 6th century and one of the oldest in the western world. Chestnut woods, washing places and small stone bridges most of the way. [Along the way] - San Cristovo do Real — riverside hamlet below the road, entered by a signposted turn - Samos — the monastery, plus every service a pilgrim needs - Renche, Freituxe and San Martiño do Real — chestnut groves and steep short descents - Aguiada — where this branch rejoins the San Xil route for the last stretch [Stage details] Start: Triacastela · End: Sarria 25.1 km · about 4 h 40 min · difficulty medium-low [Good to know] - There is a second, shorter way from Triacastela to Sarria over San Xil, about 18.5 km. This route is the Samos variant. - Almost all of the descent is on asphalt or hard track beside the river.
