Camino Francés Stage 1

The first day of the French Way inside Galicia, and the highest one. From O Cebreiro the path climbs past the heights of San Roque (1,270 m) to Alto do Poio at 1,337 m — the highest point on the whole Camino Francés — and then falls away for the rest of the day into the valley of Triacastela. [Along the way] - Liñares — Romanesque church; the waymarked route turns uphill between the houses - Hospital da Condesa — stone-paved village with a pilgrim hostel - Alto do Poio (1,337 m) — the high point of the French Way - Fonfría and O Biduedo — panoramas over the O Courel range and Mount Caldeirón - Fillobal and Pasantes — the final descent into Triacastela [Stage details] Start: O Cebreiro · End: Triacastela 22.2 km · about 4 h 30 min · difficulty medium-high [Good to know] - Yellow arrows throughout, with a milestone every 500 m counting down to Santiago. - Two routes leave the O Cebreiro hostel.
