Vía de la Plata Stage 4

We continue to Vilariño das Poldras, Couso de Limia and Sandiás, through the extensive area of concentration of plots on what was the Lagoa de Antela. Land of manor houses, towers of ancient castles which appear on the horizon. We continue on an extensive plain, one of the plains of a certain extension in all of Galicia together with the Terra Chá in Lugo, as well as on ancient roads. At Sandiás it would have been possible to cross the Roman Vía Nova or XVIII which went from Chaves (Portugal) to Lugo through Ourense. Sandiás is the municipal capital. Perhaps here was located the ancient Roman mansion Geminis of the Vía Nova. The surrounding flatlands were the scenarios of important struggles of nobles and irmandiños and were also territory in dispute with Portugal, which invaded on several occasions.
