Vía de la Plata Stage 2-2
The pilgrim must go upstream of the River Támega. The yellow arrow indicates the route by Soutelo Verde and Tamicelas. After a steep climb, we reach A Albergaría. In Santa María de A Albergaría there used to be an inn for travellers and a charity hospital for pilgrims. The route leaves behind the grand panoramas and has few trees but is adorned with the multi-colour design provided by the heather. We now ascend a steep slope. We negotiate meadows and bushland coasting along the summits of these highlands, at the foot of the Alto de Paradiña and the Monte Talariño. We soon reach the municipality of Sarreaus and the crossroads of the parishes of Paradiña and Codosedo; in the latter we pass through O Veredo (The Path), a clear name place of the Camino. The famous River Limia, the River Lethe or the “ River of Oblivion ” for the Greeks, has its source in Sarreaus. This river was crossed by the Roman General Decimus Junius Brutus.
