Vía de la Plata Stage 2-1

Leaving A Gudiña behind, we take the Verea Vella or Verea Sur, a path which crosses the impressive countryside of A Serra Seca. In the XVI century, this itinerary was called the French Camino and the Royal Camino. We will pass through A Venda do Espiño and A Venda da Teresa and we travel through imposing countryside at over a thousand metres high (the Alto de Picaños reaches a height of 1,104 m). We pass more inns in a territory with semi-abandoned hamlets: A Venda da Capela and A Venda do Bolaño, with a beautiful view of the Monte da Urdiñeira, an ancient pre-Roman fortified settlement. On our right lies the reservoir of As Portas, which collects the waters of the River Camba, a tributary of the River Bibei, with its spectacular landscapes. Farther north, the nature reserve of O Invernadeiro, in the municipality of Vilariño de Conso. Serra Seca ends in Santiago de Campobecerros, a town of Castrelo do Val.
