Vía de la Plata Stage 7

The camino starts at the foot of the Sanctuary of A Saleta (built in 1908) and continues by the Oseira road. If we choose the first option, by Piñor, we will take the route to the left once we find where the two variants of this Stage fork. We pass through Arenteiro, O Reino and Carballeda, typical localities of Ourense with abundant stonework in the houses and country homes. From Carballeda we connect several times with the N-525 highway. The route provides us with welcoming forest countryside, charming corredoiras (narrow paths) among carballos (oak trees), interspersed with valleys and spontaneous vegetation including gorse and bramble bushes, until the nucleus of O Castro de Dozón, a small town and municipal capital. If we choose the second option, we will take the route on the right. The Cea-Oseira Stage passes through Cotelas, San Mamede da Canda, Freás and Pieles. It is a beautiful route with long Stagees of hilly countryside — sometimes, with certain difficulty — which enable us to enjoy nature in complete solitude, until we reach the grand Romanic Monastery of Oseira.
