We leave O Castro de Dozón near the church until we reach the Alto de Santo Domingo. We are now at an altitude of 736 metres in these cold lands with frequent snowfalls in the harshest months. The place names on our journey show its pre-Roman past: Mámoa de Xandín or Mámoa do Castro. We travel through solitary highlands deprived of vegetation, until we begin the rapid descent to the basin of the River Dezón, at Pontenoufe. We are now in the municipality of Lalín. We reach Puxallos and A Xesta; then, one after another, we go through small hamlets: Carrás, Medelo and O Mesón de Cuñarro, which is in the area of Botos. We continue along a Camino Real, which had taverns and inns in the past and still maintains something of that spirit.
