Kumano Kodo — Daimon-zaka & Nachi

6.5 km335 m

The approach pilgrims walk up from the sea to the shrine at Nachi. The last stretch is the Daimon-zaka, a cobbled slope under cedars planted eight hundred years ago, and at the top are Kumano Nachi Taisha, the pagoda of Seiganto-ji, and Nachi Falls — a single 133 m drop that is itself the shrine's object of worship. [Route details] Start: Nachi Station · End: Kumano Nachi Taisha 6.48 km · 5 m to 318 m · climb 341 m [Good to know] - This is the first 6.48 km of the OpenStreetMap Ogumotori-goe relation, which runs from the station rather than from the shrine where the official section starts. Rather than discard it, it is here as the walk it actually is. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model at 300 m spacing, not recorded on the ground.
