Kumano Kodo — Kogumotori-goe
The second of the two Kumotori passes, and the gentler one. From Koguchi the path climbs to Sakura pass and then runs mostly downhill to Ukegawa, with the Hyakkengura viewpoint partway — a clearing that looks out over range after range of the Kumano mountains with nothing built in any of them. [Route details] Start: Koguchi · End: Ukegawa 12.05 km · 50 m to 457 m · climb 636 m [Good to know] - The Kumano Hongu Tourist Association gives 13 km and 4 hours 25 minutes; this line is 12.05 km. - Walked from Koguchi, this joins the Ogumotori-goe into the two-day crossing from Nachi. - The stage ends at Ukegawa, not at the shrine. Kumano Hongu Taisha is another 3 km along Route 168 — the tourist association's own note says walk it or take the bus — so the line stops here, 2.7 km short of where the Nakahechi ends. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model at 300 m spacing, not recorded on the ground.
