Camino Fisterra-Muxía Stage 5-1
We culminate the stage to Muxía in the constant company of the sea, impressive beaches and the Sanctuary of the Virxe da Barca an objective. Exiting the town of Fisterra can be confusing for walkers owing to the amount of yellow arrows which point in opposite directions for those going to Muxía and those who arrive from there, so, it is often necessary to resort to other kinds of directions. We must reach the beach of Lagosteira and, at the Cruz de Baixar, take the way to the Parish of San Martiño de Duio, a Church which possibly refers to the now disappeared Roman city of Dugium, mentioned in Book III of the Codex Calixtinus. The Camino continues near to the ever present sea, among hamlets, woods and wheat fields. We pass near the sea in the vicinity of the beach of O Rostro, which appears among pine trees. The route continues along narrow, quiet roads until it reaches the sands of the beach of O Rostro, then it runs beside the beach and goes up to the rural town of Padrís to finally enter the woods in the direction of Lires, the end of the stage.
