Simien Trek

The standard walk into Simien Mountains National Park, along the escarpment that drops away from the Ethiopian highlands in a wall of cliffs and pinnacles. From the park town of Debark the route climbs onto the plateau and follows the rim east through the campsites at Sankaber, Geech and Chennek — gelada baboon country, and the only place the walia ibex lives. The same walker's Imet Gogo day loop from Geech is published separately. - The walk back out to Debark and the continuation east to Ambiko and Ras Dashen are not included; the return retraced much of the way in. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not from the recording.
