Garibaldi Lake Trail
Switchbacks up through the forest from Rubble Creek to a lake dammed by a lava flow. The water is an opaque blue-green and the ring of peaks behind it — Guard Mountain, Sphinx, the Table — is all volcanic. The Black Tusk and Panorama Ridge both branch off higher up. [Route details] Start: Rubble Creek trailhead, off the Sea to Sky Highway 9.3 km one way · 573 m to 1,538 m · climb 1,056 m [Along the way] - Roughly 6 km of switchbacks, then the ground eases - The Barrier, the lava wall holding the lake back, and Barrier Lake below it - Lesser Garibaldi Lake, then Garibaldi Lake and its campground [Good to know] - An out-and-back: this line is one way, so the walk is 18.6 km all told. - A day-use pass is needed in summer. Snow lies on the upper trail well into June. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not recorded on the ground.
