GR 20
Corsica along its granite spine, from Calenzana in the north-west to Conca above the south-east coast. It has a reputation as the hardest waymarked long walk in Europe and mostly earns it: the northern half crosses bare rock with chains and scrambling, and the trail stays high rather than dropping to villages. [Route details] Start: Calenzana · End: Conca 183.6 km · north to south · 256 m to 2,551 m Fifteen or sixteen days, refuge to refuge [Good to know] - Snow closes the northern stages into June, and the refuges book out from July. - The northern half is the hard half; walkers short of time often do the south from Vizzavona. - Marked variants leave the main line in several places, including around the old Cirque de la Solitude, which was closed after a rockfall in 2015. Only the main line is here. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not recorded on the ground.
