Taman Negara — Canopy Walkway & Bukit Teresek
A short loop through what is often called the oldest rainforest on earth — this lowland forest has stood for something like 130 million years, never glaciated, never dry. The walk takes in the canopy walkway and the viewpoint on Bukit Teresek, and comes back a different way. [Route details] Start and finish: park headquarters, Kuala Tahan 4.64 km loop · 84 m to 305 m · climb 220 m [Along the way] - Canopy walkway at 1.2 km — suspended bridges 40 m up, one of the longest of its kind - Bukit Teresek at 2.4 km, looking across to Gunung Tahan - The return runs low along the Tembeling river [Good to know] - The hill measures 305 m here against the 334 m on the summit marker; the trail stops a little below the top and the terrain model smooths the rest. - Reached by boat from Kuala Tembeling. Leeches after rain, and the canopy walkway has its own ticket and opening hours. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not recorded on the ground.
