Camino del Norte Stage 1-2
Mondoñedo, declared a historic-artistic site, is one of the main Galician episcopal centres in terms of cultural tradition and one of the most unique historical centres in Galicia. It was the provincial capital until 1833. It is also the birthplace of writers such as Álvaro Cunqueiro, and musicians such as Pascual Veiga (author of the Galician anthem). Its grand cathedral is well worth a visit, and it is also renowned for its almond cake and ‘Cabell d’àngel’ (angel’s hair) jam. We leave Mondoñedo via José María Pardo street along the Alameda dos Remedios. We continue along the LU-3106 and cross Cesuras, Mount Pico and Mount Santa Cruz, until we reach Abadín.
