Annapurna Circuit North

The northern half of Nepal's Annapurna Circuit, from the road head at Besisahar up the Marsyangdi valley and over Thorong La — at 5,416 m the highest point on the trek and one of the highest walkable passes in the world. The trail climbs from subtropical terraces to a high desert on the Tibetan side of the range, passing Manang, Muktinath and Jomsom in the Kali Gandaki gorge. [Route details] Start: Besisahar (Marsyangdi valley road head) End: Jomsom, Kali Gandaki valley 140.3 km · south to north, then west 758 m at Besisahar to 5,415 m at Thorong La [Good to know] - The circuit continues south from here; that section is published separately as Annapurna Circuit South. Both halves reach Jomsom; the 1.7 km through the town that would join them is not mapped in the source relation. - Entry permits (ACAP and TIMS) are required, and Thorong La is usually crossed between March and May or October and November. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model at 200 m intervals, not recorded on the ground.
