Tiger Leaping Gorge High Trail

The path along the north wall of Tiger Leaping Gorge, between the Jade Dragon and Haba snow mountains with the Jinsha river 2,000 m below. It is a section of the old Tea Horse Road, and the gorge is one of the deepest in the world — the walls rise more than 3,000 m from the water on both sides. [Route details] Start: Qiaotou trailhead · End: Tina's / Zhang's, Walnut Garden 18.0 km · 2,063 m to 2,678 m Usually walked over two days, sleeping at a guesthouse on the way [Along the way] - Naxi Family Guesthouse 3.2 km, and the 28 Bends switchbacks just above it - Tea Horse Guesthouse 8.8 km · Halfway Guesthouse 13.8 km - Zhang's Guesthouse 18.0 km [Good to know] - The 28 Bends is the one hard stretch, in the first two hours; the rest contours. - A separate path drops from the high trail to the river at the Middle Gorge — a steep out-and-back with ladders, not included here. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not recorded on the ground.
