Mount Fuji — Yoshida Trail

Japan's highest mountain by the route four climbers in five take. From the 5th station at 2,305 m the path works up the volcanic cone past a line of mountain huts to the crater rim at 3,776 m, and comes down a separate track of red cinder. Almost everyone breaks the climb at a hut and goes up in the dark for the sunrise. Open only in season, roughly early July to early September. Cut where the terrain model reads 2,305 m and joined to the 5th station by 1.86 km of path network at each end. - The terrain model reads 3699 m at the rim against the mountain's 3,776 m — a 90 m grid cannot hold a summit that sharp. - Altitude sickness is the usual reason people turn back, not the grade. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model at 300 m spacing, not recorded on the ground.
