Kjeragbolten

4.5 km

A boulder wedged in a crevasse 984 m above the Lysefjord, at the end of the Kjerag plateau. Getting there means three descents and three climbs over bare rock with chains on the steep pitches — the profile is why this is the hardest of the three walks despite being the second shortest. [Route details] Start: Øygardstøl (665 m) · End: Kjeragbolten 4.5 km one way · 487 m to 1,012 m About 6 hours there and back [Good to know] - Out and back on the same path, so about 9 km with roughly 800 m of climb each way — the line drops to 487 m between the ridges and climbs again twice. - The road to Øygardstøl over Lysebotn closes in winter; the season is June to September. - Stepping onto the boulder is optional and the drop beneath it is 984 m. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not recorded on the ground.
