Scotland's first long-distance path, running north from the edge of Glasgow into the Highlands. It follows the whole eastern shore of Loch Lomond, crosses the emptiness of Rannoch Moor, climbs the Devil's Staircase out of Glen Coe and ends at Fort William under Ben Nevis. Much of it is on old drove roads and military roads. [Route details] Start: Milngavie · End: Fort William 153.4 km · south to north · sea level to 540 m at the Devil's Staircase Usually 7 to 8 days [The stages] - Milngavie → Drymen 19 km · Drymen → Rowardennan 24 km - Rowardennan → Inverarnan 22 km — the rough loch shore - Inverarnan → Tyndrum 19 km · Tyndrum → Inveroran 14 km - Inveroran → Kingshouse 16 km, over Rannoch Moor - Kingshouse → Kinlochleven 14 km · Kinlochleven → Fort William 25 km [Good to know] - Midges from June to August; wild camping is restricted along Loch Lomond in summer. - Elevation is sampled from a terrain model, not recorded on the ground.
